Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 4th of January.
Good morning, Westport.
💼 Business
Vanish Media System, run by Mark Motyl, will shutter its downtown showroom as growing online orders and word-of-mouth sales drive its business forward.
The Westport-based company offers hidden big screen systems that pop out with a 6-button remote + fit modern interiors, and it stays committed to local clients.
🎭 Culture
The online art gallery invites residents to submit artwork by emailing a JPG with details on the medium used (submissions are free and donations are welcome).
🏈 Sports
The Connecticut Sun will complete the 2026 season at Mohegan Sun Arena—though a sale that may move the team to Houston appears likely.
Local efforts to keep the team in the state have been blocked as the league prefers a shared market with the NBA franchise.
On Jan. 3, the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame inducted its seven-member 2025 class, including NFL star Zach Allen from New Canaan and longtime Lakers trainer Gary Vitti from Stamford—other honorees came from Monroe and Bridgeport.
