  • A new report from The Partnership for Strong Communities says Connecticut faces a housing shortage of 120,000-380,000 units due to rising homelessness and low renter wages. Gov. Ned Lamont will speak at a housing conference today in Hartford as he promotes six new laws easing the crisis.  WFSB
  • Westport will host its State of the Town meeting on Feb. 1 at the library where selectman Kevin Christie and education representative Abby Tolan will discuss past achievements and future plans. The Board of Finance will offer office hours on Jan. 22 for residents to ask about the budget *  06880
  • State data show that SNAP enrollment dropped by about 7,430 from November to December after new work rules took effect on Dec. 1 & officials warn up to 36,000 residents could lose benefits as eligibility tightens, prompting food advocates to monitor concerns.  CTPost

  • ConnectiCare's system conversion on Jan. 1 continues to cause coverage issues as the Connecticut Insurance Department said on Jan. 20 that many problems are being addressed while customers like Jennifer Werden still face trouble verifying their coverage.  WFSB

  • Balducci’s is closing at 1460 Post Road East, where architect Rick Hoag has filed a pre-application meeting request to potentially bring a 25,000-sqft Sprouts Farmers Market — pending planning review. The renovation plans will relocate BevMax and Julian’s Pizza and improve the building’s façade and parking safety.  06880
