- ➤ Amazon announced on Jan. 28 that it plans 16,000 new layoffs nationwide, following 14,000 cuts in October, but a company spokesperson said it did not specify if any Connecticut jobs (including positions at the Westport Whole Foods store) would be affected. CTPost

- ➤ Pam Docters has just published Radio Whoopie at Compo, a 49-page book that shares the 60-year history of Staples’ teen radio through interviews and archival photos. The book, sold for $9.03 on Amazon, preserves local radio stories from broadcasts at the beach & the YMCA. 06880

- ➤ Connecticut Attorney General William Tong stated that an ambulance billing company will pay $515,000 (filed in Hartford Superior Court) to settle a 2022 data breach that exposed personal data for 350,000 residents in Connecticut and Massachusetts as it must add new security measures and annual assessments. - ➤ A developer will repurpose the old Humane Society site at 455 Post Road East into 30 apartments, including six affordable units, by demolishing the 1950s building, a 1960s home and a shed; the project will include 51 parking spaces: 17 ground + 34 underground and be reviewed on Feb. 24. CTPost
