  • The company from Connecticut QXO announced a deal to buy Kodiak Building Partners of Colorado for $2.25 billion; the transaction will complete early in the second quarter and is expected to boost operating efficiencies + expand product offerings while keeping jobs intact.  The Hour
  • Charter Communications' Spectrum News acquired NECN from NBCUniversal and will launch a new network that serves Connecticut & other New England states. The network, based at NECN studios in Needham and merging Spectrum networks in Massachusetts and Maine, was announced Wednesday with additional details expected later this year.  The Hour

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The school district will start a screen-time audit this month, examining curriculum content, network activity, and survey responses from staff (with parent and student surveys following after February break).   • State officials warned residents on Wednesday about romance scams on online dating apps as Valentine's Day neared — scammers build trust over weeks before requesting cash, officials reported; locals are urged to verify online contacts before wiring funds.  CTPost
  • Gov. Ned Lamont will announce the Connecticut Supplemental Graduate Student Loan Program at UConn’s Hartford campus today to help graduate students facing new borrowing limits imposed by federal changes. The program supports students in fields like healthcare and education.  WFSB
  • State officials urged Connecticut taxpayers to claim earned income tax credit refunds during a news conference yesterday at 11:30 a.m. in New Britain, noting that nearly 6,000 eligible residents claimed refunds in 2025 and the state saw a $43.8 million revenue increase.  WFSB

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Westport homeowners received new property revaluation letters showing residential values rose 61%, so tax bills may increase about 11% despite a lower mill rate. The final town budget is pending and appeals may adjust the Grand List, with northside values up 66% and southside values up 57%.  06880
