- ➤ Staples High School teacher Dr. Wole Ogunkoya won the national M45-49 long jump title with a 6.30-meter jump at the USA Track & Field Masters Indoor Track Championships held Feb. 19-22 in Albuquerque. Westport Journal
- ➤ Staples girls basketball trailed early in the FCIAC title game but rallied near the end against Greenwich at Fairfield on Wednesday. The Wreckers will host No. 30 Lyman Hall at noon Saturday + they hope to carry that momentum into the Division II State Tournament. Westport Journal
- ➤ Staples boys basketball won its second FCIAC championship by defeating Ridgefield 62-48 at Fairfield University on Wednesday night, while the girls team fell 65-49 to Greenwich. Sam Clachko earned MVP honors with key defensive plays. Westport Journal
- ➤ Staples Wreckers secured their second consecutive FCIAC championship on Wednesday at Fairfield University with strong defense against Ridgefield, and they are set to host Manchester in the Division I second round on Tuesday, March 10 at 6 p.m. Westport Journal
