- ➤ The DOT plans a new maintenance building on Post Road East while discussions for affordable housing did not move forward—NCAA president Charlie Baker talked on a national podcast with local ties as The Clubhouse offers new events and police made four custodial arrests with several traffic citations. - ➤ Clayton Hackling stood in court on January 28 charged with manslaughter after a boat crash near Old Saybrook killed three people, and lawmakers are now working on a bill—linking car and boat license suspensions for DUI arrests—to close a deadly loophole in our law. CTPost
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, March 7, local playwright Nancy Herman and co-writer Lynda Sorensen presented 'Words From The Front' at Westport Community Theatre to an audience of about 60. The performance used real messages and a video interview to share personal stories about Ukraine, including exchanges between Herman's daughter and her Ukrainian soldier cousin — and it ended with a discussion on the issues raised. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Andy Sarkany, a Holocaust survivor, told his story at Coleytown Middle School to nearly 200 people—most being students—and explained how he survived Nazi terror and Soviet rule while urging everyone to stand up against hate. He also encouraged the crowd to visit the Statue of Liberty and remember the past so that injustice can be fought in the future. Westport Journal

- ➤ ROAN Ventures unveiled plans for the Hamlet at Saugatuck, a waterfront development that will offer apartments, retail space, restaurants and a hotel.
