COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Lauren Tarshis visited Westport Library to sign books and lead trivia for a benefit, while basketball standout Caroline Lau finished her Big 10 season with high scores and assists in a Northwestern game — a winter photo also captured resilient birds at Compo Beach.  06880
  • Crews are cleaning Longshore Golf Course from winter debris and goose droppings as it prepares to open with new GPS-guided carts, rebuilt tee boxes, and a new concession vendor. The course will launch late March or early April (with an online reservation system now in place) to improve service.  Westport Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Foo Fighters will perform in Bridgeport on Tuesday, Apr. 28 at Total Mortgage Arena as part of Take Cover Tour 2026. This event marks the band's first Connecticut appearance since fall 2025 and follows closely on the upcoming release of their album Your Favorite Toy.  WFSB

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A proposed state bill would ban Styrofoam and restrict restaurants from providing plastic silverware unless requested + environmental advocates say the measure will reduce waste, with new rules set to take effect in 2028 if passed.  WFSB

  • Westport welcomes spring with a Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday to discuss the future of the Cribari Bridge + upcoming updates to the town and Board of Education budgets.   • Dave Matlow has released Part 4 of his photo series Then and Now showing demolished homes and their modern replacements in Westport.
