- ➤ A full week of local events in Westport will begin with Disney’s live-action Snow White opening in theaters on Friday with a soundtrack by Staples High School graduate Justin Paul and a sendoff event for fashion designer Christian Soriano happening on Wednesday at 940 Post Road East—others include Animal Awareness Night at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and a 6th grade musical performance running from Friday through Sunday. The week also features Wesleyan’s men’s basketball advancing to the NCAA Division III Final 4 following a Saturday win with a game against Trinity College scheduled for Thursday, a Westport Library concert that took place yesterday, and a bald eagle sighting reported today. 06880
- ➤ Wakeman Town Farm is holding goat socials where families can meet, feed, and play with baby goats. Each session lasts half an hour—tickets are required for anyone over 1 year old—and more details are available by calling the farm at 203-557-6914. Westport Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Tickets are on sale now for the Levitt Pavilion’s 2025 season in Westport, which will feature over 50 free open-air concerts as well as ticketed Stars on Tours events. Scheduled shows include Pigeons Playing Ping Pong with the Infamous Stringdusters and Melt on June 1 at 4 p.m.—Umphrey’s McGee on July 11 at 7 p.m.—and I’m with Her with Ken Pomeroy on July 16 at 7 p.m. Westport Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Erik Barbieri, a veteran with over 30 years of parks experience—he led New Britain's Parks and Recreation Department for 10 years—took charge of Westport's Parks and Recreation Department a month ago. He has met every staff member and will review projects including a new master plan and the upcoming hire of a parks superintendent while working from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Westport Journal
- ➤ The Parks & Rec Commission will review a plan to offer portable fire pit rentals at Compo’s South Beach from May 1 to September 30, with two pits available by reservation from 4 to 10 p.m. The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom (fee is $150 per night) and residents must supply their own wood (no pellets). 06880
