- ➤ Beach parking emblems are available for Westport and Weston residents starting Thursday, March 20 at 9 a.m. while nonresidents can buy theirs today—the Planning & Zoning Commission will review The Hamlet at Saugatuck proposal on March 24 at 6 p.m. via Zoom and Congressman Jim Himes will hold town halls in Norwalk at 10 a.m. Saturday and in Fairfield at 1 p.m. Culture is bright as Westport Country Playhouse opens Theatre People on March 25 and Staples High School’s Asian Students Association raises funds for hygiene products—local jazz fans can also catch shows at Jazz at the Post this Thursday at 7:30 and 8:45 p.m. 06880

- ➤ Westport Journal will host a roundtable discussion on downtown planning on April 9 at 11:45 a.m. at Christ — Holy Trinity Church, 75 Church Lane, where experts including Torrey D. Brooks, Jennifer Johnson and David Waldman will talk about downtown challenges and possible changes — options for improvement. Westport Journal
- ➤ The Old Road bridge over Sasco Creek at the Westport/Fairfield border will close when its replacement project begins April 1 and runs until November 30. Traffic will be detoured along Old Road — Bulkley Avenue North — Post Road East — Hulls Highway — and Wakeman Lane while residents on Old Road and Grist Mill Lane keep access to their properties. - ➤ Erik Barbieri became Westport’s Parks & Recreation director last month and is meeting with local leaders and staff to review projects, including facility updates at Longshore and Ned Dimes Marina—he will soon begin interviewing candidates for the parks superintendent role. 06880
