COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Westport Night Out is taking place today at the Weston Family YMCA for teens, hosted by the Westport Prevention Coalition. The event features basketball, volleyball, free pizza and desserts, games, music and prizes — registration is limited to 75 participants while more events are planned for the future.  News 12 Connecticut

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Bedford Middle School, students are showing big hearts in a 'The Little Mermaid' production (celebrating inclusion on World Down Syndrome Day). The performance runs today at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.  06880
  • McGee Middle School hosted a basketball game where students and teachers competed to raise nearly $9,500 for 18 chosen charities. Physical education teacher Bryan Ploma organized the fundraiser—a tradition since 1998 that builds lasting connections with local groups.  WFSB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Town officials and nearly 300 residents urged CTDOT to bar tractor-trailer trucks from crossing the historic Cribari Bridge at a state hearing last night. The DOT will collect public input until April 17 & review options to rehabilitate or replace the 142-year-old span.  Westport Journal
  • CTDOT did not share details on 10 properties affected by the Cribari Bridge project — public comments remain open until April 17 — as parking on Lot 1 will require permits starting April 6. Westport Library will host Craig Melvin on April 8 along with other local events.  06880
