  • Three Connecticut chefs and eateries were named as James Beard award finalists Tuesday, spotlighting regional culinary talent in a prestigious national contest.  CTPost
  • Three Connecticut chefs and eateries have been named finalists for the James Beard awards, as announced Tuesday. Materia chef David DiStasi, Port of Call’s team, and The Shipwright’s Daughter’s chef join a nationwide competition—awards will be given in Chicago from June 13—15.  The Hour
  • Weston High School senior Owen Daniel joined the 06880 podcast for a chat at the Westport Library. He will begin studies at Berklee School of Music this fall and his music blends thoughtful lyrics with an acoustic sound.  06880

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Connecticut reached $3.95 a gallon on Tuesday, up three cents from last week, and local experts expect they will top $4 a gallon today if supply issues persist + global tensions strain oil delivery.   The Hour

  • The International Esperanza Project will hold an in-person event on April 2 at 6 p.m. at Hudson Malone where Hopkins School senior Miri Levin and her mother will share stories of volunteer medical trips to Guatemala, including a community effort that raised $6,000 for a child with eye cancer.  06880

SPORTS NEWS

  • UConn’s men's team advanced to the Final Four with a 73-72 win over Duke — the women, with a 70-52 win over Notre Dame, secured their Final Four spot on March 29. This achievement marks the sixth season both teams have met the Final Four, a rare college basketball feat.  The Hour
  • UConn men's basketball team has gone 7-1 in non-conference games against top-30 teams & will take on Illinois at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday at 6:09 p.m. This record shows the Huskies continue a strong run as they advance in March Madness.  The Hour
  • Coach Geno Auriemma praised his UConn team for staying undefeated with a fun-loving, team-first approach after wins over North Carolina and Notre Dame, and the Huskies now prepare for the Final Four against tough competition.
