  • News 12's Mark Sudol is showcasing Westport's spring spots — CB Sportif will host a bike donation drive while VersoFest is underway at Westport Library, an annual music and media festival.  News 12 Connecticut

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Thursday, about 30 people protested Patti Smith’s invitation to VersoFest and asked the Library to cancel her talk with reporter Alisyn Camerota because of posts they called antisemitic. In response, Library director Bill Harmer added counter programming— including a tribute display honoring 378 Nova Music Festival victims put together by town meeting member Melissa Levy— and the event went on before a sellout crowd.  06880

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Staples PTA board sent a letter opposing a cellphone ban and the use of Yondr bags at Staples High School—arguing that a complete ban would disrupt learning and add extra work; the board meeting to discuss the letter was cancelled, and the superintendent will gather community feedback for a recommendation by May or June.  Westport Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • UConn's women beat UCLA 85-51 Friday night — Sarah Strong scored 22 and Azzi Fudd added 19 — and will play South Carolina on Sunday for the national title. The win puts the Huskies one game away from their 12th championship.  News 12 Connecticut
