- ➤ On Thursday, about 30 people protested Patti Smith’s invitation to VersoFest and asked the Library to cancel her talk with reporter Alisyn Camerota because of posts they called antisemitic. In response, Library director Bill Harmer added counter programming— including a tribute display honoring 378 Nova Music Festival victims put together by town meeting member Melissa Levy— and the event went on before a sellout crowd. 06880

- ➤ The Staples PTA board sent a letter opposing a cellphone ban and the use of Yondr bags at Staples High School—arguing that a complete ban would disrupt learning and add extra work; the board meeting to discuss the letter was cancelled, and the superintendent will gather community feedback for a recommendation by May or June.
