ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An SUV careened off I-95 between southbound Exits 17 and 16 on Sunday, crashing into a wooden sound barrier and sending one occupant to a hospital.  Westport Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Egg-themed artwork by Linn Cassetta is on display at the Westport Book Shop at 23 Jesup Road through April 30—she is the April artist-of-the-month—and the shop will host her reception at 6 p.m. on April 23.  Westport Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local non-profit Read To Grow helps children from birth to age 7 by giving free books and literacy tools, and over 2.5 million youngsters have benefited from the program. Westporters Ian O'Malley and Shari Kaufman will host the fundraiser—A Night for the Books—on May 1 at the Westport Library to help expand the program to more Connecticut hospitals.  06880

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today the DMV has extended its hours—opening every Monday in April—so residents can obtain a Real ID by May 7. The Real ID costs $30 and applicants must bring proof of identity such as a current driver’s license, passport or a recent utility bill.  WFSB
  • A public hearing for the Hamlet project was canceled on Monday evening when hackers disrupted a Zoom meeting by showing violent, pornographic videos — police are investigating the breach and officials said the next in-person session is scheduled for April 28 at Town Hall.  Westport Journal
