- ➤ State lawmakers dropped plans for free school lunches on Monday and instead backed Gov. Lamont's proposal to fund a $12 million universal breakfast program (free lunches will still be available for lower-income students). - ➤ State officials say tax refunds will total $2.1 billion by June 30 due to federal changes from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, boosting income and pass-through entity tax refunds and potentially lowering revenues by more than $180 million.
