- ➤ Westport residents can join several free events in the coming weeks, including a mattress and box spring recycling event at Earthplace on Saturday, April 26 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., a meal and music event called Supper & Soul on May 3 at the Westport Library, and an Alvin Ailey dance show on May 1 at Westport Country Playhouse. Transit officials said that funding for the Wheels2U shuttle will end on June 30 unless an RTM vote on May 2 restores its budget. 06880
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Westport police charged 22-year-old Hamden man Brando Sullo with first-degree larceny and multiple counts of second-degree larceny for stealing tires and rims from Honda and Toyota of Westport in fall 2024 — he turned himself in after a warrant was issued, was released on $150,000 bond, and is set to appear at Superior Court in Stamford on May 5 as the investigation continues with further arrests expected. - ➤ On April 6, hundreds gathered at the Westport Library during VersoFest 2025 to listen to music icon Paul Shaffer interviewed by local performer Christine Ohlman—known as the Beehive Queen. Shaffer shared stories from his over 50-year career with Letterman, Saturday Night Live, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and closed the event with live musical selections that energized the audience. - ➤ The Connecticut Department of Education sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Education saying it would not sign the DEI compliance order and that the state already meets Title VI rules. Gov.
