  • William Raveis Real Estate will host secure shredding for cancer research on May 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 47 Riverside Avenue, where funds go to three research centers (William Raveis Charitable Fund, Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute).  Westport Journal

  • Sprouts Farmers Markets plans to open a store on Boston Post Road in Westport after a pre-application filing for a 25,000 sqft grocery store showed its logo, while other big box retailers like Aldi and Big Y are also expanding across Connecticut in projects happening next year and later.  The Hour
  • A federal jury found Ticketmaster and Live Nation overcharged fans $1.72 per ticket in 22 states, including here where Attorney General William Tong is pushing for a full breakup of the companies. Penalties and potential refunds may follow as the case moves forward.  The Hour

  • Connecticut Magazine's experts have named top burger restaurants for 2026, with local favorite Match Burger Lobster at 580 Riverside Ave featuring on the list. The rankings spotlight both established spots and fresh dining picks appealing to food lovers.  The Hour
  • The Lyrids meteor shower will peak overnight Tuesday into Wednesday in Connecticut, and NASA advises residents to find dark spots away from city lights to see fast, bright meteors near the star Vega in Lyra.  The Hour

  • Westport writer Karlin Gray launches True Story Bookshop — an online resource that helps parents and educators find picture-book biographies for young readers sorted by interest from kindergarten through grade 5 and promote diversity and literacy.  06880

  • Earthplace hosts Toast to the Trees, its Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, April 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at a 62 acre sanctuary that features craft beer tastings for adults (sparkling beverages and arts and crafts for kids), live music and food trucks with proceeds supporting nature education.  Westport Journal

  • Staples rallied from a three-goal deficit at halftime to defeat top-ranked New Canaan 11-8 in a Division One lacrosse game on Saturday, April 18; the teams will meet again on May 14 in New Canaan.  WFSB
  • UConn head coach Dan Hurley said Tuesday that the basketball program needs more help from the state, school and local businesses to boost NIL support and stay competitive. He warned that without extra financial backing the program risks losing its status as the Basketball Capital of the World.  The Hour
