- ➤ Volunteers are updating the Compo Beach playground in Westport to add a new surface and make it easier for all ages to use—work will continue until Saturday and anyone can help by signing up online or filling out a form at the beach. News 12 Connecticut
- ➤ On May 1st at 7 p.m., the Historic District Commission and 1st Selectwoman Jen Tooker will present eight Preservation Awards at Town Hall Auditorium to honor seven homeowners and a redevelopment team for their work preserving Westport’s historic properties — the public is invited to attend. 06880
- ➤ Westport is busy this week as volunteers rebuild the Compo Beach playground with a target finish on Saturday and residents prepare for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at the Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—local police will join diners at Rizzuto’s on Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to support Special Olympics Connecticut. - ➤ Westport police arrested a 38-year-old man after receiving a complaint on April 2 that a hidden camera was placed in a shared apartment bathroom—he is charged with voyeurism and his bond was set at $50,000—he will appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 2. NBC Connecticut
- ➤ Police arrested Albert Steven Bermudez Ocampo after officers found a hidden camera in a Westport apartment's shared bathroom in early April (he is charged with voyeurism and will appear at Stamford Superior Court on May 2nd). WFSB
- ➤ A New York woman, Heylee Soto, allegedly stole about $464,169 from a Westport man by cashing a stolen IRS refund check and a counterfeit Treasury check—money used for online purchases like DoorDash, Netflix and Nike apparel— police said; she appeared in state Superior Court and remains free on a $150,000 bond. - ➤ A report from the American Lung Association showed that Fairfield County had over 20 unhealthy ozone days and an F grade while Middlesex County also received an F. The report said that Litchfield County’s unhealthy days for short-term particle pollution tripled — dropping its grade from a B to a D — and that 7 out of 8 counties in the metro area were rated with D or F.
