- ➤ Today, community gardeners began clearing the Westport Community Gardens ahead of an April 30 deadline to create space for a multipurpose athletic field as part of the Long Lots Elementary School construction project. - ➤ The Saugatuck Congregational Church and the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston will host a free musical event on Sunday, April 27th at 4 p.m. where acclaimed concert pianists Dr. Liang-Fang Chang and Dr. Uriel Tsachor will perform on the church’s Steinway grand piano and answer questions from the audience + host a reception. - ➤ Westport’s Minute Man statue was dedicated in June 1910 by Harry Daniel Webster to honor the April 25 Battle of Compo Hill when British troops landed at Compo Beach and local fighters defended the town using hunting guns—its spot near Compo Road helps both longtime and new residents remember Westport’s brave past. 06880

- ➤ The Westport Transit District is expanding its Wheels2U service by adding new hours and stops for riders to reach the Senior Center, Farmers’ Market and Jesup Green. Riders can book a $2 ride via the Wheels2U app—at least 20 minutes ahead—on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. while funding is under review and may be cut on June 30. 06880
