  • TEDx debuts at Westport Library on Sept. 13 from 4 to 6 p.m., inviting speakers with ideas on topics like AI and creativity, and Westport Little League celebrated its 75th anniversary with a softball season kickoff at Meyer Field while a benefit auction for Homes with Hope runs until Thursday.  06880

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Monday, the state DOT reported that 52 people died on Connecticut roads in 2026 compared with 67 at the same point in 2025. Officials urged all road users to remain alert, slow down, and avoid distractions to keep everyone safe.  The Hour

  • Old Stud, taken over by local investors including Westporter Jim Randel, will open its Studio Shop in Norwalk tomorrow. Open Wed-Fri — 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — the shop offers hand-crafted belts, cuffs and custom designs, reviving a historic brand once featured at a local boutique.  06880

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Connecticut are up 19 cents over the past week due to uncertainty over the war in Iran. The average price for regular gas is now $4.19 (up from $4.00), and it may rise further as drivers brace for changes.  WFSB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Connecticut House passed a bill today banning cellphones in schools from the morning bell until the afternoon bell, and many districts already have remote policies in place. The measure now heads to the Senate for further review.  WFSB

  • Greenwich and Westport were ranked among the nation’s top suburbs for those seeking a relaxed life away from city living, according to HGTV — Westport was noted for its beach lifestyle, arts scene and community features.  The Hour
