- ➤ StartUp Westport's Pitch competition returns on Nov. 19 at Westport Library with a $30,000 prize pool, including $25,000 for the winner. Applicants must submit by June 12 (meeting criteria like a Connecticut association and pre-institutional funding) to join the contest. 06880

- ➤ VFW Post 399 will host the Connecticut Grateful Dead All Stars featuring renowned saxophonist Crispin Cioe this Saturday, May 2 — doors open at 7 p.m. and the event starts at 8 p.m. at the waterfront venue on Riverside Avenue. Westport Journal

- ➤ At Staples High School, junior Kaila Patel and sophomore Liam Harrison won the Teen Diversity Essay Contest last night at the library with their essays on the Declaration of Independence, earning $1,000 and $750 respectively.
