- ➤ The 18th Annual Westport-Weston Touch-A-Truck event is set for Saturday, May 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with displays of fire trucks, EMS ambulances, police cars, heavy duty cranes, dump trucks, and more, and will offer a quiet hour—9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.—for a calm environment. - ➤ Police will host a community forum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 at the Town Hall auditorium – 110 Myrtle Ave – to discuss e-bike traffic laws and safety guidelines in Westport. Attendees can ask questions as officers provide details about proper e-bike use and answer feedback without any cost. Westport Journal

- ➤ Today, eight Preservation Awards will be presented at Town Hall (7 p.m.) to honor Westport property owners who have preserved historic buildings such as the adaptive reuse of The Mill at 41 Richmondville Ave. and renovations on Treadwell Ave and Compo Road South. Westport Journal

- ➤ Four Staples High School students won awards at the Teen Diversity Essay Contest held Monday at the Westport Library—each student received a cash prize for writing about identity and fairness in our town. The contest was sponsored by TEAM Westport—giving young people a chance to share their views on who they are and how they are treated. Westport Journal

- ➤ Westport has selected Deputy Chief David Farrell as its new police chief—he will succeed retiring Chief Foti Koskinas after 29 years with the department. Farrell has served with the police since 2001—ensuring continued local leadership in his new role. News 12 Connecticut
- ➤ On April 30th, the Connecticut House approved the Firearm Industry Responsibility Act, which can allow lawsuits against gun makers + retailers that do not use reasonable controls to keep firearms and parts away from dangerous people. - ➤ The Connecticut Foraging Club, started by Amy Demers in 2021, says more locals are choosing healthier eating by foraging wild mushrooms and plants in yards and woods.
