CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 41-year-old man from Danbury, Roman Santiago Jr., was charged with trafficking cocaine from Puerto Rico via the mail after intercepted packages contained over 11 kilograms of the drug—he was arrested on Feb. 12 and released on a $50,000 bond. WFSB
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Seniors Katelin Zhao and Sahil Salihnur from Westhill High School have been accepted to MIT and will attend this fall. They are the first pair from the same class to receive an offer from MIT — a school known for its acceptance rate below 5% that recognizes their hard work. News 12 Connecticut
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ At a recent Conservation Commission meeting, developers of the Hamlet at Saugatuck project said the plan would exceed environmental regulations by removing contaminated soil, adding green space, and treating stormwater at four times state standards—while several public speakers voiced concerns about traffic, flooding, and impacts on the river's wildlife. The Commission will hold a site visit on May 9 and a follow-up hearing on May 14. Westport Journal
