- ➤ State lawmakers will raise penalties for drivers exceeding 100 mph after arrests were made this past weekend—Rep. Greg Howard said the bill will fine drivers, jail repeat offenders and temporarily impound cars, with the law going into effect in October. WFSB
- ➤ After long-time Chief Foti Koskinas retired following 29 years of service, the Westport Police Department set a new command staff structure. Current Deputy Chief David Farrell replaced Koskinas + Captain David Wolf and Lieutenants Eric Woods and Jillian Cabana earned promotions to strengthen the department. Westport Local
- ➤ Connecticut leaders are preparing for federal changes to Medicaid that may cut billions in funding and force the state to share more costs, potentially impacting nearly 100,000 people. The House Energy and Commerce Committee will meet next week to discuss proposals including work rules that officials warn might hinder treatment for patients like Joanne Morales—who relies on Medicaid for cancer care.
