- ➤ Westport Garden Club will host its annual plant sale Saturday, May 10 on Jesup Green in front of the Westport Library at 20 Jesup Road from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will feature over 1,200 perennial plants, native species, tomatoes and new Clematis alongside decorative containers, Mother’s Day gifts, baked goods and gardening tools provided by local partners — and the sale will take place rain or shine. - ➤ The Interstate Lumber Westport Design Center at 800 Post Road East will host Coffee and Cars on Saturday May 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., where auto enthusiasts can view classic, vintage and exotic cars while enjoying coffee, espresso, craft beverages and pastries from Caffé Bon’s mobile coffee house — local visitors are invited to attend. - ➤ At a Tuesday forum at Coleytown Middle School, many Westport parents, teachers, and mental health experts backed a proposed ban on cellphones at Staples High School while a few raised concerns about how the ban will be enforced—Superintendent Thomas Scarice said the final proposal will be submitted to the board on May 15. The proposal aims to cut distractions during class and could take effect at the start of the new academic year. Westport Journal

- ➤ Westport officials approved a 3.64% increase in municipal spending and restored $340,000 in Wheels2U funds for the 2025-26 budget as on-demand shuttles will launch on May 13 to serve Westport Center for Senior Activities, Westport Farmers Market, and Jesup Green—transit committees will also review parking capacity and provide an update on Cribari Bridge repairs this summer.
