- ➤ UnPlastic Westport is focused on reducing single-use plastics this summer by expanding water-filling stations and suggesting reusable alternatives to items like sunscreen packaging & plastic water bottles. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Connecticut lawmakers passed a bill Wednesday that now bars school districts from hiring police officers banned from law enforcement to work as armed school officers & allows parole officers to serve in that role. The unanimous vote closes a loophole that allowed previously dismissed officers to be deployed in schools. The Hour
- ➤ The state Senate approved a bill that mandates catch-and-release for striped bass in state waters from December through March, effective Oct. 1. Gov. Lamont + local conservation leaders support the measure to curb illegal fishing and ease enforcement efforts. CTPost

- ➤ Last night at Town Hall, the Historic District Commission held Preservation Awards for 10 homes—including Colonial Revival, Victorian, and Federal styles—for outstanding care and restoration. - ➤ Spinnaker Real Estate filed a pre-application with the Planning and Zoning Commission to develop 157 rental apartments on a 1.5-acre parcel at the corner of Riverside Avenue and Charles Street, with 10% affordable units, two levels of parking for 283 vehicles, and environmental remediation (pedestrian improvements planned). 06880
