COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents in Westport are invited to send photos from the Memorial Day parade today by 1 p.m. (weather permitting) to [email protected] for a chance to see their images featured later this afternoon.  06880
  • Due to severe weather, the Parks & Recreation department cancelled the parade portion of tomorrow’s Memorial Day celebration, but the service will continue as planned indoors at the Town Hall auditorium at 10 a.m.  Westport Journal

  • The 53rd Westport Fine Arts Festival (held last weekend) drew art lovers who braved rainy weather, and organizers noted strong sales from artists including David Gordon and Zili Zhang. The event showcased robust local support for fine arts.  Westport Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Construction on Westport's new Long Lots Elementary School starts next week next to the current facility — which stays open during work — and will finish by December 2027 so that it opens in January. The old building will then be demolished for improved outdoor spaces.  The Hour
