- ➤ At the Staples High School board meeting on Thursday, several soccer players protested the firing of coach Russell Oost-Lievense—student leaders complained that the board’s quick decision during a 14-hour hearing ignored their call for further discussion. - ➤ Town officials are hurrying to secure funding endorsements for the proposed Long Lots Elementary School project to meet the June 30 state reimbursement deadline — missing it could cost Westport up to $1.3 million and delay the planned 2027 opening.
