- ➤ A Guilford man who stabbed a Greenwich woman outside a Westport salon in 2020 pleaded guilty to attempted murder, first-degree assault and other charges and was sentenced Tuesday in Stamford to 10 years in prison—his case will also determine if he receives probation or special parole. CTPost

- ➤ Maureen Estony, a Staples High School graduate now back in the area, transformed abandoned wasp nests into art by creating bowls and vases and held her first public show last month—where she sold a piece and shared her creative journey at the Senior Center. 06880
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A bipartisan group of Westport town officials has urged Governor Ned Lamont to veto HB 5002 because they say the omnibus housing bill risks local governance and the state economy by allowing as-of-right conversion of commercial properties and requiring municipalities to cover developers' legal fees. The signers noted that Westport has already expanded housing access through a $1 million affordable housing fund and a downtown shelter — and they now await the governor’s decision. 06880
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Staples beat Ridgefield 10-9 in the Class LL boys lacrosse semifinal at Rafferty Stadium on June 10 when Tristan Schaefer scored the winning goal with 2.4 seconds left. The team will face the winner of the other semifinal in the championship game at Fairfield University on Saturday at a time to be determined. CTPost
