Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 15th of June.
Good morning, Westport.
🏘️ Community
Yesterday, residents watched an Instagram Live with ROAN Ventures developer Martin Purcell discussing the Hamlet at Saugatuck project — dog licensing reminders were shared for all dogs over six months and Riverside Avenue was closed for about an hour after a gas leak.
The Parks & Recreation Commission will meet on June 18 to honor local volunteers — Westport police also issued several traffic citations while a 29-year-old from East Orange, New Jersey faced charges for passing fake $100 bills.
🏛️ Government
Bridgeport is working to sell Sikorsky Airport in Stratford but the city still controls the facility.
A new law that eases cleanup costs may help bring in buyers & Stratford must still have a say in any deal.
🏈 Sports
The Staples Wreckers defeated Darien 7-6 at Fairfield University's Rafferty Stadium Saturday to win the state championship—marking their third title in four years.
Head coach Will Koshansky and his staff held off a late tie from Darien to secure the win.
