- ➤ The DOT will remove trees and build a 10-foot berm along West Parish Road to upgrade the area—while Westport Library’s Verso Studios won four Telly Awards, cooling centers opened in response to an extreme heat warning, and local venues continue hosting cultural events. 06880
- ➤ The Parks and Recreation department installed cameras at Longshore Club Park to record vehicle details and monitor activity after a break-in at the golf pro shop last year, said Operations Director Carman Roda—cameras are also set up at the pavilion, tennis courts, pool area, marina, maintenance building, and office to ensure patron safety. - ➤ Overnight, lightning struck two Westport homes—one on Joanne Circle where a fire on the second floor was contained with no injuries and one on Bayberry Lane where an invisible fence was damaged by an electrical surge. NBC Connecticut

- ➤ Connecticut officials warned homeowners today to be cautious of unsolicited roof inspections and repairs after storms, as door-to-door offers may be scams. The Department of Consumer Protection and the Better Business Bureau received 91 complaints in the first half of the year—homeowners are urged to hire only registered contractors and verify credentials before agreeing to any work.
