ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • During summer rains, Westport residents may hear a gray treefrog calling softly as it shifts its color from gray to green, making it hard to see when approached. This small amphibian uses sticky toe discs to cling to plants and is one of only two treefrog species found in Connecticut.  CT Insider

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Ned Lamont remains popular with 63% approval among Connecticut voters—ranking him sixth among U.S. governors in a Morning Consult poll. He is thinking about running for a third term but has not yet decided whether to enter the race.  CTPost
  • Westport Parks and Rec Director Eric Barbieri said he will test beach water up to three times a week and use a lab closer to town so results return faster—this plan aims to cut the long closures that have kept Compo Beach shut for five days. Compo Beach reopened on Wednesday after that extended shutdown.  Westport Journal

  • The unfinished home at 233 Hillspoint Road is in foreclosure with an auction set for September 3 — the mid-construction beachfront property has halted progress due to financing issues and may not be completed for years.
