- ➤ Yesterday a 3.0 earthquake in Bergen County was felt in Connecticut and released 501 times less energy than last year's quake—today the weather shows mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid-80s and lows in the 60s, ideal for outdoor activities. News 12 Connecticut
- ➤ A 3.0 magnitude earthquake shook near Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday and was felt in Norwalk, Danbury, Stamford, Greenwich and other towns—making it the second quake from New Jersey to affect the region in the last 15 months. CTPost
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Westport appointed Alberto Vargas Jr. as Director of IT effective today; he brings over 20 years of tech experience — including his work at ATG Entertainment and the New York City Department of Finance — and he plans to lead improvements in the town’s digital services. Westport Journal
- ➤ Metro-North Railroad fares in Connecticut will go up 5% on Sept. 1 and again on July 1 next year to help cover a state funding gap. Westport riders will see monthly passes rise from $366.25 to $385.75 in September and to $405.50 next July while one-way peak rides will cost one dollar more at each increase — a change approved by CTDOT to maintain service levels.
