- ➤ Westport Police Department is launching a Citizens’ Police Academy on Sept. 18 with eight sessions held at 7 p.m. on Thursdays until Nov. 20—participants will join a ride-along, receive Stop the Bleed training and learn safe weapons handling. Westporters aged 21 and older must submit applications by Aug. 27 at Police Headquarters or via email to enroll in the program. Westport Journal
