- ➤ Westport’s Slice of Saugatuck returns on Sept. 6 from 2 p.m. — 5 p.m. along a triangle formed by Riverside, Saugatuck and Railroad, offering food, drinks, live music, kids’ activities and a beer garden to support a local charity; a rain date is set for Sept. 13 to boost donations for a food pantry aiming for a $60,000 goal. - ➤ Jay Babina is a young Westport entrepreneur who started selling water bottles in summer 2018 and now runs Scans by Me, a digital media service that converts photos, CDs, and documents into digital files. - ➤ A Bronx man, Matthew Berman, was arrested on Sept.7 for stealing over $12,000 in golf clubs and bags from Longshore Golf Club on Compo Road South, and he turned himself in on Aug.21 at police headquarters—he could not post his $100,000 bond. WFSB

- ➤ Westport Public Works and Parks and Recreation said repairs to the Sherwood Mill Cove tide gates, wooden pier, and seawalls will begin after Labor Day—public parking will be used to stage equipment and store materials. The work, coordinated with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, will continue until Memorial Day. Westport Journal

- ➤ State scientists announced that mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus have been found in 34 towns — residents of Westport and nearby areas are advised to use insect repellent and cover skin as mosquito activity is expected to continue until October. WFSB
