Westport’s Slice of Saugatuck returns on Sept.

A Bronx man, Matthew Berman, was arrested on Sept.7 for stealing over $12,000 in golf clubs and bags from Longshore Golf Club on Compo Road South, and he turned himself in on Aug.21 at police headquarters—he could not post his $100,000 bond.

Westport Public Works and Parks and Recreation said repairs to the Sherwood Mill Cove tide gates, wooden pier, and seawalls will begin after Labor Day—public parking will be used to stage equipment and store materials.

State scientists announced that mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus have been found in 34 towns — residents of Westport and nearby areas are advised to use insect repellent and cover skin as mosquito activity is expected to continue until October.
