  • The Westport Farmers’ Market has revamped its Get Growing kids program with new tables & chairs and creative activities from local partners like Earthplace and Apple Blossom to offer children a fun, interactive space. The program will run on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from May 8 to Nov. 13 at 50 Imperial Avenue, drawing families to the market.  Westport Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Westport psychiatrist Dr. Lazaro Pomeraniec was charged with five sexual assault cases that include an incident recorded on audio by a patient during appointments on March 5 and May 16 in Fairfield and will appear in court on Sept 19 — police say multiple patients reported unwanted sexual contact during their visits.  CTPost

  • Staples Players has organized a Dance-a-Thon on September 26 to pay for rising production costs and upcoming auditorium updates—students and tech crew will dance for 4 hours while asking neighbors and family for funds.  06880

  • State Sen. Ryan Fazio received endorsements from Senate Minority Leader Harding and House Minority Leader Candelora to boost his 2026 governor campaign—Gov. Ned Lamont has not yet announced his plans.  CTPost

  • FCIAC set up new high school football schedules for the 2025 season that will try to make games more even. The plan splits teams into four groups so that top schools play each other and lower-ranked teams face opponents that match their past records—aiming for fairer matches.  CTPost
  • Staples High’s field hockey team kept two shutouts at season start by blanking Greenwich 1-0 on Wednesday and winning 4-0 at Trumbull on Friday— the team will play Norwalk on Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. to build on its strong start.  Westport Journal
  • Connecticut-born NFL players made an impact in Week 1 games as New Haven's Tyler Booker of the Dallas Cowboys played 61 snaps in Philadelphia plus New Canaan's Zach Allen recorded a key sack for the Denver Broncos in a 20-12 win over the Titans.  CTPost
  • Staples High girls soccer tied with Brien McMahon 1-1 on Friday after a tough loss, with Maddie Johnson scoring the equalizer — assisted by Taylor Lunney. The team will seek its first win today when it visits Norwalk at West Rocks Middle School at 6:30 p.m. — it will host Stamford on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.  Westport Journal
