  • Westport has a busy week as new eateries open—including Massi Co. replacing a longtime restaurant, Dandelion hosting a charity benefit, and World's Greatest Card Shop taking over a vape store location. Local events expand the town calendar with a triathlon, art shows, and a public meeting on downtown design—while an electrical arc incident on Compo Road prompted a swift fire department response.  06880
  • At Dandelion—the new Mediterranean restaurant at Delamar Westport—a Saturday fundraiser raised over $22K for Westport Volunteer EMTs as more than 250 guests attended the event hosted by local real estate broker Judy Michaelis.  Westport Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Massi and Co, a new restaurant owned by Massimo Tullio that held a Saturday friends and family event, opened Tuesday, Sept. 9 in the space formerly occupied by Don Memo in Westport — it now serves Southern Italian-American dishes including brick oven Neapolitan pizza, homemade pasta, craft cocktails and natural wines.  Westport Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Planning and Zoning Commission in Westport voted unanimously on Monday to reject holding an executive session with Roan Ventures about the Hamlet project, following strong public opposition + commissioners said they will revisit the matter once more details on pending applications are available.  Westport Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • WalletHub's report on '2025's States that Vaccinate the Most' said Connecticut ranked fourth overall as one of the most vaccinated states—its rates for childhood and teen vaccines ranked high. The report listed Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Washington as the only states with better scores, while Alabama, Nevada, and Mississippi ranked among the lowest.  WFSB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Staples football will start the season in FCIAC’s top tier under new head coach Matty Jacowleff and face Glastonbury on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.—the game, held out-of-conference, comes after a challenging summer of training.
