CULTURE NEWS

  • Alec Baldwin and Stephanie Zimbalist will perform a play reading on Sept. 27 at Westport Country Playhouse to support the Joanne Woodward Internship Program—this event will mark the centennial of The Great Gatsby.  CT Insider

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Westport Country Playhouse is accepting registration for its Playhouse Playmakers program where children in grades six to eight will write, rehearse and perform an original play under experienced directors—Stacie Morgain Lewis and Evette Marie White. The six-week session will meet on Sundays from October 12 to November 23 and will end with a family performance at 3 p.m. on November 23.  Westport Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Marissa Gillett, who served as chairman at PURA since 2019, resigned after citing escalating disputes—her resignation will be effective Oct. 10, and Gov. Ned Lamont praised her expertise in energy regulation. This move shifts leadership at PURA as state policies continue evolving.  News 12 Connecticut

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Ron Friedson, a longtime Westport developer, proposed that the town convert small office buildings near Post Road, Route 33, Sherwood Island connector and train stations into affordable housing units, aiming for 100 to 200 units spread throughout commercial areas—he will submit detailed plans to a Planning and Zoning subcommittee within the next 60 days.  CTPost
