COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Westport became the first town in Connecticut to form a sister city link with Ukraine and helped Ukraine Aid International send funds and supplies to Lyman in the Donetsk region. Recent updates show that Lyman faces daily drone, artillery and glide bomb strikes — and Westport will continue its aid with holiday gift distributions.  06880

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Westport officials said the town faces a housing crisis as only 3.97% of its 10,567 dwellings are affordable, leaving long wait lists for workers who want to stay local. The Planning & Zoning Department will consider Text Amendment 855 on Oct. 6 to allow off-site affordable units in the Inclusionary Housing Zone—an effort to improve housing mix.  Westport Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • UConn women’s basketball announced their 2025-26 schedule with 31 games — 18 in Connecticut at Gampel Pavilion, PeoplesBank Arena and Mohegan Sun Arena, plus road and neutral contests in Germany, Florida, Los Angeles and other locations. The season opener is set for Nov. 4 at Ramstein Air Base against Louisville and the team will play an expanded Big East home-and-home series with each of the 10 conference schools.  The Hour
