- ➤ Saturday night, MoCA/CT hosted the Endless Summer fundraiser in Westport where art lovers and community members gathered to support the museum and raised over $100,000. The gallery featured a Brazilian vibe—Tod Papageorge: At the Beach exhibition that will run until Oct. 26. Westport Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, 06880 launches a new feature called Students Speak — a place for Westport and Weston high school students to share their real thoughts about life. Staples High School senior Griffin Delmhorst is the first to speak, sharing his views on school work and his place in the community. 06880
- ➤ Connecticut public schools—including Westport—will be closed today for Rosh Hashanah so that families can observe synagogue services and traditional celebrations. Residents mark the new year with prayers, shofar blasts, and apple slices dipped in honey for a sweet start. CTPost
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Westport residents who meet income guidelines for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program can apply for heating bill help starting Oct. 1, 2025—existing applicants will get mail instructions while first-time applicants must call the Department of Human Services at 203-341-1050. - ➤ Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection has proposed changes to the Unfair Trade Practices Act that will require digital ads to clearly disclose all fees on consumer products and motor vehicles. The revisions—updating rules set in the 1970s and 1980s—will be reviewed by the attorney general’s office and a legislative committee before they can take effect July 1. CTPost
- ➤ Governor Ned Lamont said the Revolution Wind project will resume following a U.S. District Court ruling that lifted the stop work order—halted over the summer for national security reasons. The offshore wind project, nearly 80% complete and designed to power 350,000 homes, will soon help lower energy bills for local families. WFSB

- ➤ Westoberfest returns on October 4 at downtown Westport’s Sigrid Schulz Plaza from noon to 6 p.m.—the festival will offer local and regional craft beers, cocktails, mocktails, live music, and family activities including face painting, pumpkin decorating, and a petting zoo by Kelly’s Kids. - ➤ On Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, Windsor’s Jason Pinnock helped the unbeaten San Francisco 49ers win 16-15 over the Arizona Cardinals with three solo tackles & his performance kept his team at the top. Four former Connecticut standouts played in NFL games, but only Pinnock was part of a victory. CTPost
- ➤ Staples field hockey team had a strong weekend at the Max High School National Invitational at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken—defeating Kingsway Regional 3—1 on Saturday and blanking First Colonial 3—0 on Sunday. The undefeated team is now 8—0 and will visit Darien on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. and host St. Joseph on Sept. 29 at 4 p.m. Westport Journal
