COMMUNITY NEWS

  • ALS United Connecticut hosted its annual Hartford Walk ALS event at Dunkin’ Park Saturday morning—drawing over 600 participants—and plans two more walks in New Haven and Westport next month.  WFSB

CRIME NEWS

  • Connecticut Attorney General William Tong announced a proposed $3.88 million settlement with a California-based fundraising firm accused of scamming over 84,000 donors by promising that donated vehicles would fund breast cancer screenings when most funds went toward company fees— the settlement bans former president Michael Irwin from future fundraising and awaits court approval.  CTPost

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Westport Fire Department has been awarded a $94,952 federal grant from FEMA for swiftwater rescue technician training for its firefighters—this training will provide hands-on instruction to build critical skills needed for flood and coastal rescues. Fire Chief Nicholas Marsan said the grant, from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, will help improve readiness for severe weather and flooding events.  Westport Journal
  • At a crowded forum Friday afternoon at the Westport Center for Senior Activities, first selectman candidates Kevin Christie, Donald O’Day, and David Rosenwaks and selectwoman candidates Andrea Moore and Amy Wistreich presented their plans and shared lessons from past roles—all sponsored by the League of Women Voters.  Westport Journal
  • Westport First Selectwoman Jen Tooker has suspended her campaign for governor—Governor Lamont has yet to announce if he will run, leaving the race in flux.  WFSB

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Actress Eva Amurri launched a web series called The Westport Project to document her work renovating and rebuilding a 19th-century house near Compo Beach in Westport, blending modern renovations with energy-efficient features and a new addition. The series began in June and will run through March 2026—inviting local workers and community feedback as she shares every step of her creative process.  CT Insider
