- ➤ Connecticut Attorney General William Tong announced a proposed $3.88 million settlement with a California-based fundraising firm accused of scamming over 84,000 donors by promising that donated vehicles would fund breast cancer screenings when most funds went toward company fees— the settlement bans former president Michael Irwin from future fundraising and awaits court approval. - ➤ The Westport Fire Department has been awarded a $94,952 federal grant from FEMA for swiftwater rescue technician training for its firefighters—this training will provide hands-on instruction to build critical skills needed for flood and coastal rescues.
