- ➤ Yesterday, The Bridge at Saugatuck celebrated its first anniversary with an Oktoberfest offering bratwurst, sausages, pizza, beer and live music by the river while the Levitt Pavilion hosted the rescheduled Mihali festival with local band Residual Groove starting the show at 4:30 p.m. Looking ahead, Michael Chait will hold a graphic design event on October 15 at 6:30 p.m., fundraising for Long QT Syndrome research has surpassed $1.4 million, and resident Marcia Marshall will be honored with a funeral mass tomorrow at 10 a.m.—with a visitation held today from 4 to 7 p.m. 06880

- ➤ Staples High School boys soccer team won 1–0 at Fairfield Warde when Ford Epstein scored the winning goal from a corner kick by Brendan Allen, giving the Mustangs three points— they now travel today to Fairfield for a 5 p.m. match, and new assistant coaches Russell Oost-Lievense and Chris O’Dell, both former players, helped organize fundraisers for LivFree before the game. - ➤ Staples Wreckers field hockey beat Darien 2-1 on Thursday as goalie Paige Knesich made 14 saves to give the team a 9-0 record+ they will host St. Joseph of Trumbull today at 4 p.m. Westport Journal
- ➤ Staples girls soccer won its third straight shutout with a 1-0 win over Fairfield Warde on Saturday - ending Warde's four-game win streak - after earlier wins at Wilton on Sept 19 and an 8-0 triumph over Bridgeport Central on Thursday.
