EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Long Lots Building Committee said a contractor mistakenly cleared 6,000 square feet of mature vegetation during construction for Long Lots Elementary School—extra removal went beyond the approved plans. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Lamont announced on Oct. 8 that the state will pay $200,000 a day to keep WIC benefits running for 52,000 low-income women, infants and children during the federal shutdown—state funds are expected to be reimbursed later. The Hour
- ➤ Three candidates for first selectman—Kevin Christie, Donald O’Day, and David Rosenwaks—discussed environmental issues at a forum hosted by Sustainable Westport and Earthplace.
