- ➤ Candidates for first selectman and Planning & Zoning commission hold their final debates tonight at Westport Library at 6:30 p.m.—Staples High School won national awards for its radio station and sports teams, and a local resident’s Halloween decoration was stolen last night. Additional local events include curbside leaf collection starting November 3, a Historic Homes tour on November 2, and a Great Pumpkin Toss at the Farmers’ Market on November 6. 06880

- ➤ MoCA CT is hosting MoCACT Sessions: Reflections by East Coast Contemporary Ballet at 19 Newtown Turnpike in Westport—director Claire Mazza and artist Bret Coppa will premiere new work with evocative music, striking costumes, and compelling choreography at a $50 ticket price. Westport Journal
- ➤ A reading of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will be held on October 30 at Westport Museum for History and Culture (25 Avery Place, Westport) where a ghostly narrator portraying Washington Irving will retell his classic tale in a historic barn; tickets cost between $10 and $15 and the event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Westport Journal

- ➤ Today, the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority approved a rate hike that is 8% lower than United Illuminating's 27.4% proposal + UI customers using about 750 kilowatt hours may see their bills rise by about $10 per month. WFSB
