Westport officials reported that rumble strips were added on Kings Highway North after an 18-year-old student died in September 2024, and the town will install new traffic signals, pedestrian features, and vehicle detection systems at 12 intersections as part of a $16 million project set to start winter 2026—projects that also include sidewalk upgrades on Compo Road and a proposed stop sign in the Greens Farms area—to improve safety. Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich said some sidewalk work is expected to begin in spring 2026.
