- ➤ Since SNAP benefits halted on November 1, Westport's food pantry at the Jesup Road Gillespie Center saw a 70% increase in visitors, with nearly 400 people and 1,200 adults and children receiving food. Homes with Hope launched a Grab + Go program to cut wait times and local donors plus officials have stepped up to support the effort. 06880
- ➤ Michael Donoghue — executive director of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County — said food pantries are now serving over 100 families a day with lines forming one hour before opening, up from 30 to 40 families. - ➤ The Coast Guard rescued five men (from Connecticut and Rhode Island) from a life raft after their sailboat Magic Bus left Stonington bound for the Bahamas nearly 300 miles off Cape Hatteras on November 6, 2023; all were in good condition and taken to a Coast Guard air station. The Hour

- ➤ UConn men's basketball broke its school record with a 64 to 17 halftime lead over UMass Lowell Friday in Hartford — the previous record was set in 1998 when the team led by 40 points. CTPost
