COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Maya and Itay Regev, who were shot and held captive during the October 7 attack in Israel, will share their survival story at Chabad Lubavitch of Westport on November 19—an event in the Candid Conversations Series. Their father Ilan Regev will join the discussion after a 6:45 p.m. VIP reception with the event starting at 7:30 p.m.  Westport Journal
  • The Westport Fire Department and Bridgeport Rescue Mission are hosting the third annual 'Share the Warmth' coat drive through Nov. 30—collecting new or gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, and snow suits at several drop-off locations in Westport. Most donated items will be delivered to Bridgeport Rescue Mission with some reserved for ABC House and other local agencies.  Westport Journal

  • Cyndi Lauper, a former Stamford resident, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on November 8 at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles—she performed hits like 'True Colors' and was honored by pop star Chappell Roan, adding a major milestone to her storied career.  CTPost

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Leah Corbett will lead a two-hour Lunch & Learn multi-bowl pottery workshop on November 14 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, where participants learn to pinch, shape and glaze bowls using provided clay, tools and glaze options. The event costs $85 and offers a hands-on introduction to pottery making.  Westport Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • About one in four Connecticut households has used SNAP, a new survey shows, and most adults want the program to be stronger as federal cuts loom and a government shutdown continues. Gov. Lamont said the state will pay for SNAP if federal payments are not released — the survey found higher use among Black, Latino, women, and lower-income residents.  CTPost

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Food and Drug Administration recalled lisdexamfetamine dimesylate capsules after lab tests showed the drug did not dissolve properly, which could lead to temporary adverse health effects — Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Inc. voluntarily recalled seven kinds of the capsules on Oct. 28 and the recall was classified as Class II on Oct. 30.  CTPost
