- ➤ Local officials confirmed the Board of Finance unanimously voted on a $275,000 payment that may let Hook’d end its 10-year contract early, while Blu Olive plans to open soon at Railroad Place with a Mediterranean menu—volunteers finished testing Cribari Bridge lights ahead of tomorrow’s ceremony and Melissa and Doug Bernstein will be honored in the Toy Industry Hall of Fame on February 13. - ➤ NASA predicts the Leonids meteor shower will peak on Nov. 18 with 10 to 15 meteors per hour, and residents can watch the display after midnight—find a high, dark spot away from city lights for the best view. The forecast shows mostly sunny skies with gusty winds on the viewing night. The Hour
- ➤ Gray foxes are native to Connecticut—they are rarely seen and can climb trees using retractable claws. The state’s DEEP is beginning a multi-year study and asks residents to report any sightings to help monitor their population. The Hour
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Westport native Marie Fitzsimmons quit drinking on December 7th, 1967 and founded Positive Directions to offer free substance abuse counseling; this organization now helps many people. This year, local runners Brian McGarvey, Cam Gaylord and Gianna Affi ran the New York Marathon and raised over $19,000 for the charity—continuing a legacy of mental health support. 06880
