  • The Westport Downtown Association Holiday Stroll will take place on Saturday, December 6 from 4 to 7 p.m.—offering over 50 local features and a Toys for Tots drive at Main and Elm. Governor Lamont signed House Bill 8002 on Wednesday, which expanded fair rent commissions and eased parking rules for smaller housing developments while urging towns to plan for future growth.  06880
  • Darien’s Planning & Zoning Commission approved a new children’s activity center called The Wonder at 800 Post Road, which will open next fall. The center—owned by Westport resident Sarah Robinson—will offer interactive programs for kids ages 0 to 8 such as Dino Dojo and Dream Bakery, along with a makers studio, play area, and ample parking for families.  The Hour

  • Westport resident Evan Sameroff, a Harvard MBA and former private equity professional, is looking to buy a small service business with 5 to 50 employees and at least $750,000 in annual profit.   • Actor Dick Terhune will bring Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to life at the Palace Theater’s Poli Club on Dec. 7—his one-man show will feature over 30 characters and follows a sold-out run at the Warner Theater in 2019.  CT Insider

  • Westport schools expect a 15% rise in health insurance costs, adding $3M to the operating budget for the next fiscal year—officials plan to offset some costs by restructuring staff and proposing a new role. The board will review the full budget proposal next month—public meetings will let community members comment on the changes.  CTPost

  • UConn edged Illinois 74-61 on Friday in New York as backup guard Malachi Smith scored 14 points and recorded nine assists. His timely four-point play—earning him the nickname 'Mali's World'—helped the Huskies build a strong lead in the game.  CTPost
