  • Westport Woman’s Club is accepting applications for its annual Community Service Grants for Fairfield County non-profits focused on education, health, safety and the arts, with qualified organizations invited to apply by mail at 44 Imperial Ave before Jan. 16 (deadline).  Westport Journal

  • Le Rouge-Handmade Chocolates by Aarti is closing its Main Street shop in February after 10 years in Westport and shifting to nationwide shipping and seasonal creative collections, the owner Aarti Khosla announced in a heartfelt Facebook post celebrating a decade of community memories.  The Hour

  • No Connecticut Lottery player won Monday’s Powerball jackpot, so the prize grew to $930 million with a cash option of $429 million; the top win was $200 among 13,035 winning tickets. The next drawing is today at 10:59 p.m.  CTPost

  • Westport’s Department of Public Works is ready to manage 124 miles of roads when winter weather arrives and will plow main roads first while advising motorists to avoid tailgating heavy plows (call 203-341-1120 for questions).  06880
  • New SNAP work rules required over 42,000 residents to prove work status or meet exemptions since Dec. 1, & the state has sent notices and launched a pre-screener online to help those at risk in Connecticut understand the changes.  CTPost

  • UConn men's basketball team defeated Florida 77-73 at MSG on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Tarris Reed Jr. returned from an ankle injury, scoring 12 points to lead a late 7-0 run that avenged last March's loss.  CTPost
