  • After 38 years serving the community, Organic Market owners Maggie and Charles Vosgueritchian are retiring on Jan. 2 with chef Talin and her partner Mary taking over to continue the healthy mission. The new owners will introduce fresh ideas while preserving tradition.  06880

CULTURE NEWS

  • The winter exhibit at the Westport Country Playhouse barn features 12x12 artworks for sale and affordable pieces running through Dec. 21 — gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m.  06880
  • Keith Richards, a longtime Westport resident honored with the state's first Governor’s Award of Excellence in March, said he could not commit to a large stadium tour and the band will instead plan a European jaunt in 2026.  CT Insider
  • Wyclef Jean – a Grammy-winning artist – will headline VersoFest on March 27 at Westport Library, performing with his full band in support of Music Will, a nonprofit for music education. Tickets cost $125.  06880

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA estimated that over 1 million Connecticut residents plan to travel 50 miles or more this holiday season, a 2 percent rise from last year; the forecast notes quieter roads on Christmas (when traffic is expected to be lighter) and New Year's Day.  WFSB

FINANCE NEWS

  • Connecticut Lottery said a state player won $1 million Wednesday after matching all five white balls while five out-of-state winners received the same prize and two others won $2 million. The jackpot now stands at $1.5 billion and the next drawing is set for Saturday night.  CTPost

  • Erik Ofgang tried Stew Leonard's hot buttered ice cream in Danbury on Friday, Dec. 19, and found its blend of soft serve dipped in hot butter and topped with salt impressive; local visitors gathered to sample the treat as well.  CTPost
